HI EVERYBODY!

Hi there! We are okay!  We've been on a long hiatus due to travelling and writing, but I must give you an update. Wally-boy is doing SWELL! This is a photo I just took of his sleepinks, only 4 mins ago....He's a world class traveller now, and while he is still wearing his shoe, there has also been marked improvement in his foot since the car accident. He can "clench" his foot now, where as before it was "dead" and he couldn't feel anything.

I have to say I look back at earlier posts, at how overwhelmed I was after the car hit him...at how truly awful everything became and I'm just so grateful to be on the other side. I think I took Walter for granted before the accident. I loved him, but I didn't know how much until he came so close to not being here anymore.

By far my FAVORITE comment about Walter came from a perfect stranger in Key West. A huge lady sitting on her balcony porch, who shouted at us as we walked by...."Hey!" she said  "Whats wrong with that dog?" and I explained he'd been hit by a car and now he wears a shoe, and the woman just grinned at him and said  "uh-huh, but nobody can tell him nuthin' now! He got a style now!"

And so he does. Walter definitely has style...and not just because of his little shoe. I think we both understand life more now...in that we grasp how little we understand at all. The beauty of it, the strangeness, the unpredictability. How kind and wise strangers can be.
We are spending winter in Key West again...this time we left the car at home. My brother and his new wife got a bulldog (big pug) and they're using the car, as well as walters travel cage and gear. We're going to get some kind of new vehicle down here! (Golf cart)

I hope you're all well, and we miss every one of you wonderful, amazing, unbeliveable pug lovers out there! Can you believe how far we've come??

Hi! It's so good to hear that you both are doing so well. From time to time we thought about Walter and what he has been doing. Key West is beautiful in the winter months. My hu=dad grew up there!
Please post again soon with more pictures and updates.

Walter! Heather! So great to hear from you, and how wonderful Walter is doing. Life really is a wonderful, mystical thing and we all forget how small the world really is, and how interconnected we all are. And also how alike we are (our love for pugs and our desire to help).
Glad you are nice and warm. We can't really complain, the weather has been unseasonably warm, but what's winter without a little griping!

:)

I hope you will add me as a friend, I have been friends with you for a while and since you have been away I have read most of your blog, I cried my eyes out at all you guys had to go through with the car accident and I did in fact kiss my Puggy all over especially his little ankles! I felt so deeply for you! I’m so glad that wonderful Walter is better now, I love his little shoe and he definitely is a miracle pug!!

Hi Walter!

I don't think we've ever met. My name is Tiffy and I'm about 6 years old. My parents used to have a pug named Stubby that you were friends with. Stubby is at the Rainbow Bridge now but he still watches over all of us.

Anyway, I'm happy to finally meet you. You are so lucky you get to spend the winter in Florida. I am going to freeze to death in Chicago. Can I come join you in the land of palm trees?

Pee-s: The 1000 Pug project is going to be in Miami this spring. Maybe you can join in on the fun!

I stumbled upon your blog right after the accident, and have been keeping up with yours and Walter's story ever since. I'm so glad he's doing well. Hearing about what he went through made me appreciate my little pug even more.

Hi WALLY BOY!!!!

Oh, I have missed you. I remember those days after your accident so clearly. Momma and I couldn't even sleep at night- worrying about strangers across the country who, in an instant, became family. A part of our pug family. I still think about you all the time and am just SO GRATEFUL for your precious life!

I hope your winter in Key West is warm and wonderful.

Amazing! I just happened to hit the "Next Blog" button at the top of my blog and suddenly there's Wally! I love dogs, got four of them, two from animal shelters - each of them thinks they're top dog. Thanks for featuring Wally - I'll keep up with the blog.
