rug-o-rama

all right, it isn't pretty, but we never thought it would be. Through carpet runners, bath mats, welcome mats, crib liners and my once-perfect green yoga mat, we have created walkways that are floppy-foot-friendly. Today was the FIRST DAY Walter got to walk about the house more (or less) like he used to! this is the trail that leads into my office. As long as the carpets are close enough together, he doesn't slip on the floor. (goal being at least two feet are on carpet at all times.) He adheres to the new rules well, only because the wood floor is like buttered ice to him now. Anyone have any experience with post-op dogs being unable to walk on hardwood floors? It's like his paws aren't sticky enough anymore. Anyway, he's getting along all right and is busy checking all his old hiding spots for stashed away loot!

15 mins later...had to post this picture - can you find the pug? this is where Wally used to sleep when I wrote...my heart did a little jump to see him there again.

Oh, he looks so happy and adventurous to be able to go exploring all his old haunts again! It's like he's saying, "yes, I'm back and this is MY home and I will go where I please!" :)

Looking good Walter! Love the runners, rugs, and other assorted carpeted surfaces.

I have problems on the hardwood and it gets really bad when my vestibular acts up. I get stuck, like frozen, on the hardwood because I am scared to walk on it and then Mom has to rescue me.

Keep ruling the roost like you know you can now that you car cruise around.

So happy Walter can get around the apartment again!! He has come such a long way in such a short time!! I can't wait to see what else he accomplishes.

Hey, if it works for Walter, then who cares if it isn't a "designer" look. Walter's getting into his groove, that's what counts.

GIGGLING,GIGGLING, GIGGLING!! Walter how is it you get CUTER AND CUTER every single day?? You all but destroyed the "CuteFactor" Meter when you were born, but now you insist on ruling the Pug World with that Mug of yours!!! So happy mom FINALLY got it right over there with the rugs, tee! LOVE it! Moms going to keep calling yours, and she is NOT offended if she doesn't get calls back.. She TOTALLY understands and hopes one of these times they can connect and chat... Would love to meet up over at Linden Hills, Famous Dave's is one of our favorite date places, so maybe one day... Kisses to You and Momma.. Keep it up Walter.. We are SOO proud of you HANDSOME little MANN! XOXOXO

Oh, mom says a lot of dogs don't do well on hardwood floors in general.. I wasn't raised on them so i slip all over when i am at places where they have them... My cousin dog Angelle Ann has always refused to walk on my Aunties husbands hardwood floors so she has rug runners all over... So it is not abnormal for dogs to slip on them and or not like them! XOXO

Hells Bells1 Why on earth have I always strived for hardwood floors? I now lust after a house with no stairs, ramps to the backyard and rubber floors with a medium-grade grip!!!!! Extreme Home Makeover! Pick ME!!!

Boo Bear! Please, yes! take no offense at my lack of calling back. This deadline has be positively anchored to my desk when not assisting wally, but please call again soon, i am determined to see you!

Petsmart carries a paw wax - used for dogs to protect their feet in the winter. I wonder if that would help with traction.
Otherwise, Ike has these boots that are wonderful for traction, and they stay on.

WOW! Walter and Heather look how far you have come. Walter has been a survivor. Heather you have believed in Walter and never given up on him while your friends have supported you. What a great team you are. I believe Walter would make a great therapy dog and you would be a wonderful therapy dog assistance telling his story.

Oh Walter I'm so happy and proud of your great accomplishment over the last few weeks! Maybe his feet aren't as calloused as they used to be and that is what is making him slide on the hardwood floors?

Either way, glad he has gained some freedom. Hope he found some good treats!
