I set up Walters portable crib in the backyard so he could let the neighbor dogs know who's boss. (Walter, as proven by big-boy barking) It was quite the setup to get outside, including the Eddie Bauer mattress pad he's on. Very fleecey. (Where did we get an Eddie Bauer mattress pad for our pug? I couldn't even hazard a guess.) I also gave Wallington a bone to gnaw on, which he did, even after I took him inside.
The air conditioning pixies dropped off a surprize air conditioner at our house today. The generous Bob Thompson had offered to lend us his, but we thought we'd try this unexpected one first. Bob, we will call you with the cooling-factor report ASAP! And thank you for the offer. really wonderful.
His right foot is still "ankling" or curling under, but we continue to religiously do his physio therapy on the peanut baall and we lift or "correct" his foot every time he starts walking on the top of his foot instead of the bottom. We say "Foot!" when we do this, hoping to train him to correct himself when we say "foot!" from across the room. We think he's learning, he's terribly brilliant.
I hope everyone had a weekend spent with loved ones. Today I really felt for the first time, a real and deep sense of out-of-the-woods-ness.We still have a long way to go, but the road doesn't seem terrifying right now. Thank you everyone for your loving kindness.

Only the best for Walter! I wish I had an Eddie Bauer mattress pad...haha! I can only imagine how tough it is for Walter to refrain from busting loose and running wherever he wants to go. Can't wait when he can have more freedom; but I totally understand the need to limit his movement for the time being. Hope the screws are holding okay. I have confidence the foot thing will work itself out. Will keep praying for those bones to heal as quickly as possible! Hang in there.

It looks like Walter was really enjoying himself outside. Good for him telling the other dogs who is boss. Yoda likes to do that too - way to often. Glad you could get some A/C and have had a good weekend.

Glad you got an ac unit. It would have been rather brutal here without it this weekend. Glad Walter is doing well. We really hope his foot starts turning correctly.
Glad you are doing well yourself and that you have great friends to support you.

Little by little Walter will get better. Every time I look at his little face I wonder why did this have to happen to him (and I sometimes think he wonders that, too). But then I see all the love that has come together here because of one little puggie. Walter has a larger purpose in life, and he's bringing people together who wouldn't otherwise come together here. :)
Ooh that sounds awfully fancy, lucky Walter!
The air conditioner sounds wonderful.
I am happy your outlook is looking better, I bet Walter will figure out that foot thing and then it will be getting better and better from there.
Walter has his own portable compound!
Glad he's getting better! He's definitely out of the woods.
It's so wonderful to see Walter enjoying his life again. I can 'hear' how you are starting to relax a little bit too and that is great as well. I love your solution for getting Walter outside and letting him 'tell off' the neighbor dogs! He deserves an Eddie Bauer mattress and more. Keep up the great attitude! Hugs to you both.
Hi Heather! Hi Wally!
I am just catching up on your weekend. A new A/C, water therapy, new pig toy from sweet Harry, and some time spent outside re-establishing yourself as king of your 'hood.... That's a good weekend, if ya ask me!!!!
Pearl can't comment this morning, as I have just dropped her off at the vet for her annual shots. She is quite mad at me. I am sure she sends her love, as do I! :)
hi heather and walter!
oh i am so happy for both of you! walter is a true miracle.
thank you for continuing to share him with us like you do. you are both amazing!
Walter deserves the best after what he's been through!!! Glad to hear things are getting better. As hard as it is, just take it day by day and know we are only a mouse click away!!! Walter will be running rampant before you know it!!!
Hey Walter! I's gonna start posting instead of Mom. She says she's got a better grasp on the English language but I disagrees!
I's glad you got to go to the outside. It's good that you told those other dogs who the boss is! I bets they were scared!
Yay for the A/C. I loves A/C. We has to have lots of it in Alabama.
Keep gettin better!
Snorts & manly hugs,
~Harry
I think the sun does help heal all wounds (well, excpet sunburn...). Looks like Walter enjoyed basking in the heat - crazy boy!! Guess it's easier to enjoy now that you have some A/C to escape to, right?

Walter looks quite satisfied to be out in the yard. It's about time those neighbor dogs got put in their place. LOL! It's so good to hear that you are both doing so well. It won't be long before this is all a memory.
We agree Walter is very smart and can learn words. My little friend Coco who has no eyes knows words like DOWN or UP or STAIRS so he can get around perfectly. So Walter can learn FOOT!
Go Walter go!
