Wally Walks!
It's clear we don't know what we're doing, but here's walter, fresh out of the laundry basket, giving it his all! It's only when he lifts his leg to pee he topples over, poor lil guy! It;s hard to see but his right rear leg is ankled under as he walks, so he's walking on the top pf his foot, rather than the pads. Still, he can get around short distances pretty good huh? Not bad for having an Escalade-size SUV roll over him a mere five weeks ago!!!
Thanks for the good advice yesterday everybody. Hurray Monday is over.

HOORAY FOR WALLY!!! Things are going to continue to get better, I promise. These pugs are AMAZING little creatures and will never let you down. Each day is a victory! Hang in there!
That is so wonderful seeing him walking! Thank you for the video! Keep up the good work and stay strong! Give him another big smoocher for us :-)
Pug hugs and kisses!

That is awesome, Walter! Way to go. Mom wants to know if there is any sort of foot brace you can wear on your right foot to make it work correctly?
Tell your mom to take a deep breath. While we may not be there to help here, we are all here to help you both. :)
Keep up the great work!

He is moving alot easier then I thought he would. That is awesome!
Feel better today!
The vet wants his ankle to get stronger thru excercise before she puts on an orthotic, or ankle brace, as it is too heavy for his fragile still-healing bones. We correct him whenever we can (put his foot down right) and it has shown a degree of improvement. What we hope is over time the nerves will build back and he will be able to feel the bottom of his foot again one day. If they don't or don't completely, he may have a little Tiny Tim leg brace!
Thanks for the video - it's good to see him getting around on his own. Way to go Wally!!
Thanks for the video. He sure is giving it his all. I wish I could say something to make it all better. You are doing everything you can to help him get better. Remember that. Take care.

Yoda and Brutus, we tried to comment on your blog but struggled with our sign-in name. Hope it went thru!
Well that just made my day! He gets around SO well! When, and I do mean WHEN that back foot gets fixed up, he is going to be all over the place!!
YAY WALTER! You continue to be my hero!
Yay Wally! Sometimes I loses my balance when I's peeing and kinda tip to the side. And I gots no excuse! Mom says it's cause I try to pee as high up the tree as the bigger dogs. I says "what bigger dogs? I's huge!"
Anyways, good to see you movings about. Glad your Mom is having a better day!
What a great pick me up!!! It's just what I needed to make my day all better. YEAH WALTER!!!!!!! It's so good to see him up and walking on his own. You are all doing a wonderful job with him adn he is just going to keep getting better!!!!
Pug love & kisses

Ah! Go, Walter, go! This video made my day! He'll be walking and lifting with the best of them pretty soon. My fingers are crossed.
Hi Heather & Walter! I knew you could do it Walter! Baby steps little buddy, that's all you need to take.
You are such a trooper and seem to take everything in stride. As we watched your video, Mom turned to me and said "You fall over like that too." Duh Mom. My back legs sometimes give out and down I go. I almost always get back up, but sometimes I get embarassed because I look funny.
Don't let anyone laugh at you Walter because you were mowed down by a big truck and now you're walking. Never give up!
Stubby xoxo
We are doing happy dances here! Way to go, Walter!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Thank you so much for the video! He looks wonderful! You are both doing a fantastic job. It's not about knowing what you're doing - it's about showing grace when you don't.
prayers prayers prayers.
We are so happy to see such fast progress!!! Keep up the good work everybody,
Slurpy kisses & snortles,

Heather and Walt..
I have to say everytime i get into my suv, i think about the accident.. I now take a different route to work , but it is still difficult to think about, but I'm so hopeful about all the good that has come from this "not so pretty little mistake." it still is painful, but as many have said, it is a blessing that so many of us see the good in each other and can connect over this. i love you all for that. to everyone reading, thanks for caring..my not so pretty little mistake is made easier by your love and kindness..thank you so much.. and walter, to you... keep getting stronger my dear pug.! i havent seen u since the accident but will always be there for both you and your mom! sarah, the driver.
Oh my gosh... ! what an amazing video.. without sounding too graphic, i felt the bump when i ran over him, and look at him now!! what a miracle.. thank God for the continued blessing.
sarah
Heather, your post on our blog didn't show up. Blogger has been acting up lately for us, so that may be why.
How great to see that video! I'm assuming that's Larkin? Walter seems to definitely have an agenda - wandering around like there is nothing wrong. Isn't it wonderful that dogs don't have egos/shame like us silly humans? When he toppled over in the pee attempt he just let you help him & carried on like nothing happened :) Those pesky nerves are slow growers - be patient, all he needs is time :)

Thank you for showing us what a trooper Walter is. Go Walter GO!

Wow, after seeing this short clip of Wally walking and seeing his determination I have no doubt that he will be walking around that lake with you again soon. God does work in wonderful ways.
You have a really good brother!
Wow, it's sure great to see Walter's spirit! He wants to get around like nothing happened, he wants to get better and do all those things again. He's got an uncrushable spirit that will help him soooo much as he recovers. Of course stuffies and treats help too! :p
Go Walter!!
Great to see him walking and trying so hard - looks like he wants to go go go and is like what's the matter with this leg - let's go already. Healing takes time and it looks like he is on the right road with the right attitude. Thank goodness. Go Walter!
hi heather and walter!
oh what a strong boy! he is just amazing. i love both of your spirits! You are both uplifters!

HOORAY!!! I'm so proud and happy and happy for Wally!!!!!
Wow! That's some good walking - Walter can walk right out of the video frame! A lady in my neighbourhood uses a fabric sling looped under her dog's belly to help support his back end post-op. It kind of looks like an old belt from a terrycloth robe but I suppose you could use a rolled out tensor bandage(just mind his boy parts). Her dog can walk for short distances on his own but she keeps the sling in place so she can help support him when he's tiring or during potty time. I'm sure you're getting all kinds of advice but Walter's doctor and PT people know best.
I looked at some of your older posts and couldn't help but notice that Walter's expression and posture is exactly the same as my pug Chloe's when opening presents. Exactly the same! Just goes to show you that no matter what, pugs love their presents...and their dinner too! Oh and cookies, lots and lots of cookies - oh and whatever anyone happens to be eating....
Wally, you are an amazing puggie!!!! You are such a SUPERMAN!!! keep up the good work, stay strong... lots of puggie love to you and BIG kisses!!! MUAH! xoxo
Look at Walter go! Keep it up buddy!!
