I don't have any new pics of walter in his playpen, so thought I'd post a pre-accident picture. this was taken just two weeks ago (I just got tears in my eyes...) when we were up at the lake. He is such a good rock climber. so powerful and loves nature. I PRAY he will be able to climb this same rock next year, please send us good wishes and prayers that his little bones will heal. There is still minimal movement in his legs, I try to visualize him running and jumping again, not confined to a bed.

The vet visit went well. He got a new pain patch, the nurse commented on how much better he looked, the doctor checked him and said it's the pain patch slowing down his bowels, and to be patient and give him organic mashed pumpkin. So we came home and took a long exhausted nap. I am just so grateful he's alive. Every time I feel forlorn or tired or angry, I just remember it's a miracle he's even here.

Please kiss all your pugs for us, and kiss their tiny ankles which work and keep them safe. and PLEASE please keep them on leashes, and nobody open the door like I did. Install fences, baby gates etc...nothing is worth going through what we're going through. I always meant to put a fence in the front yard and now I would give anything to go back in time...

so please all you wonderful pug owners, trust your instincts, listen to your fears and do that one thing you've been meaning to do TODAY. They are worth any effort, all money. xoxoxoxo

We're all rooting & praying for Walter. You must be exhausted from lack of sleep and just worrying :(
That kind of accident could have happened to any of us. We've been lucky not to have experienced a dog-car malady, but one of my dogs had cancer a few years ago and we spent a lot of the night nursing her. It was good to care for her, but exhausting too. Hang in there--you're a wonderful pug parent. And that's a beautiful photo.

I'm so glad to hear the vet visit went well. It's going to take Walter time to heal and he will do it at his own pace.

Even though I'm old, I'm still thankful I can get around. My legs don't work like they used to but they still work. I know that Walter will be able to walk and run again soon, so please hang in there Heather.

WHEN Walter is up walking, consider getting a scat mat. Its an electric charged mat that delivers a shock when its stepped on. I had problems with my pug making a dash for it and I put it right by the front door, like an indoor welcome mat. Now he has learned not to go by the door unless he is on the leash. After a while you can stop using it and play pranks on unsuspecting friends.

Oh Heather, I know all the what-ifs don't make this any easier for you. Try not to beat yourself up about what could have been done differently. Walter could not have found himself a more loving momma, and I just know he will walk again!

Get your rest, Walter! I truly believe the worst is behind you, sweet boy!

XOXOXO Pearl

Walter had a great day. All meds went in smooth, and he SAT UP ON HIS OWN. That means he went form laying to sitting all on his own. His tunny muscles are starting to to work Again! Woooooooo!

Hi Heather, just checking in on you and Wally today. Glad he is starting to make small, but amazing, improvements.

There are many what-ifs in life everyday, but what matters is now. And I have to tell you I respect an admire you so much for sticking by your dog. You had very difficult decisions to make, and not everyone would have made the hard decision that you did to go through this surgery with Wally. And look how it has paid off - he looks great and is doing better and he WILL fully recover. Be proud of yourself for being strong for Walter. Our dogs are strong for us every day and they deserve the same strength from us.
I know it is hard, and I'm praying both for Walter AND for you every day, that you will both get the rest and recover - emotionally and physically - that you need.

We're always here for you!

Oh Heather so glad to see he sat up. He looks very happy in that picture of him sitting up. Please don't blame yourself. I feel so bad for you. Accidents happen. We continue to think of you and pray for both of you. It's still ok to feel frustrated and etc. You have a right to feel that way. Take care.

I am so glad Walter had a good day today! Don't be hard on yourself because it was an accident. What is important is that you are making decisions based on what is best for him. And I am sure he will surprise all of us getting well really soon!
